Sausage Breakfast Casserole

A delicious and easy sausage breakfast casserole recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound Beef Sausage Cooked and crumbled
  • 6-8 Eggs Large eggs
  • 1 cup Milk or Cream Whole milk or heavy cream
  • 6 cups Bread Cubed, day-old bread works best
  • 1 cup Cheese Shredded Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a mix
  • 1 cup Vegetables Optional, chopped bell peppers, onions
  • To taste Spices Optional, garlic powder, herbs

Instructions
 

  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Spread half of the cooked and crumbled beef sausage evenly across the bottom.
  • Add half of the cubed bread on top of the sausage.
  • Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the bread.
  • Spread half of the vegetables (if using) on next.
  • Repeat the layers: sausage, bread, cheese, and veggies (if using).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk (or cream), and any spices.
  • Pour this mixture evenly over the layered ingredients.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 45-60 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
  • To check if it's done, insert a knife into the center. If it comes out clean, it's ready. If not, bake for another 10-15 minutes.
  • Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before cutting and serving.
